Launched in 1997 as AWB ZEN-NOH LTD., a joint venture between JA ZEN-NOH and the Australian Wheat Board (AWB), CZL LTD.’s primary goal was to secure a stable supply of feed grain and food-grade wheat for the Japanese market.

Following the AWB’s withdrawal from the business, JA ZEN-NOH started a new partnership in 2012 with CHS, North America’s largest federation of agricultural cooperatives. Reborn as a joint venture by JA ZEN-NOH and CHS—the world’s largest and second-largest agricultural cooperatives, respectively—the company name was changed to its present name, CZL LTD.

CZL leverages the North American grain procurement networks of CHS and JA ZEN-NOH to supply the Japanese market with feed grain and food-grade wheat. Our motto is “Safe, secure, and stable supply.” We work to ensure in the stable procurement of feed grain and food-grade wheat from around the world, conducting business with producer-owned organizations not only in North America but also with Australia’s largest agricultural cooperative federation, a Canadian grain procurement company derived from a former agricultural cooperative, and others.

As a dedicated grain trading company, our mission is to serve as a safe and secure bridge between the world’s grain producers, Japan’s food and feed manufacturers, and the final consumer.
